If you take one glance at these photos, you can tell they've been a long time coming. These are from way back in December, shot in a very snowy, very frigid Valley Forge. Jon has been my best friend/co-conspirator since the First Grade, and told me he planned on proposing to his girlfriend Kelly in December. They met at Calvin College, where they were both runners on the highly ranked men's and women's cross country teams (if you see them running, DO NOT try to keep up).
Jon & Kelly's Engagment - Images by Kriston Bethel
Jon asked me to shoot their engagement photos while they were in Pennsylvania for Christmas, to which I couldn't say no, of course. They're both amazing people in every possible way, and what's more, both very laid back and easy to work with. Which was good, because we were shooting in some ridiculous conditions. We only had one day that worked for us, and of course that was the coldest day of the year. The photo taken at the arch (about the highest point in the park) had something like a -10 degree windchill. Contrast that with the photos at the bridge, which felt closer to the 50s. In addition to that, Kelly is also allergic to the cold. Considering all that, they were both amazing (did I mention that already?) and I think we made some pretty nice photos.
